Burdekin Plaza Shopping Centre Management continues to monitor Government Disaster and Emergency Services advice following ex Tropical Cyclone Kirrili’s landfall last night.

Based on the advice of local Disaster Authorities and Emergency Services, now advising you can now leave your home if it is safe to do so,  Burdekin Plaza will open today, Saturday 27th January from 9am, unless otherwise directed by the relevant authorities. Please note that some specialty stores may trade different hours.

Burdekin Plaza will continue to monitor the situation closely and will act according to the advice of emergency services.

Our focus continues to be the safety of all retailers and staff, customers, and the local community.

Please remember that there are localised risks in the area. Personal safety is a priority, and you should follow the advice of local authorities and emergency services for your local area regarding safe travel.



Thursday 25th January 1.00pm

Burdekin Plaza will close today at 2pm as local emergency authorities advise against non-essential travel in the area. Please note that the Centre has NOT been designated as an evacuation point or point of refuge. CENTRE UPDATE | Cyclone Kirrily

We have been advised that the Coles at Burdekin Plaza will be closing today at 2pm. The Centre Management team is continuing to monitor the situation and act according to the advice of emergency services and the Burdekin Shire  disaster management site. Our focus continues to be the safety of our retailers, staff, customers and the local community. We will continue to provide updates here when the situation changes.



Thursday 25 January 9am

With the Greater Townsville and Mackay region currently under a Cyclone WARNING, which has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). Regular updates will be issued via Queensland emergency services. For up-to-date cyclone information, please click here bom.gov.au or disaster.qld.gov.au/warnings.
The centre will remain OPEN for trade during normal operating hours, however, please note that some speciality stores may trade differently.
The Shopping Centre Management team will continue to monitor the situation closely and will act according to the advice of emergency services and local disaster management. Our focus continues to be the safety of all retailers and staff, customers, and the local community.

Tuesday 23 January 2pm

The North Queensland region is currently under a Cyclone WATCH, which has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). Regular updates will be issued via Queensland emergency services and for up-to-date weather warnings and information please click here bom.gov.au or disaster.qld.gov.au/warnings.


The centre will remain open for trade during normal business hours, and we will take advice from local authorities and emergency services on the severity of the weather event and its effects as it develops.
